Presenter: Scott Bramble

Bramble imageScott is currently the President of FAMM, a customer oriented property and casualty insurance agency in Chestertown, Maryland. Scott has coached many sports and was a men's lacrosse at Washington College  where he served as an assistant coach throughout the 1990s. He played collegiately at St. Mary’s College in Maryland. He was also a long time basketball referee. Bramble has organized several local lacrosse programs, including the Eastern Shore All-Starsvs. Team Australia Under-19 game in 1995 as well as local club teams.

Bramble lives in Chestertown with his wife, Jill, and their children, Nicholas and Jordan.

Mike is the Director of Rowing at Washington College. He oversees both the women's and men's rowing programs and was appointed Washington's sixth women's rowing head coach in the summer of 1990. Read more about Mike here.

Tracy is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Delaware. She worked for several years as a Civil Engineer, and has years of experience coaching, writing, teaching, and rowing. For many years she has been involved with USRowing's Coaching Education programs, most recently presenting professional development seminars. Read more about Tracy here.

Mike is in his 13th season as the Head Women's Rowing Coach and his 19th year at the Naval Academy. During his tenure his athletes have totaled 26 CRCA National Scholar-Athlete awards (including six last year), 14 CRCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region accolades and a pair of Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognitions. Jonnie is the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Washington College and Director of Recreation.  Jenkins has spent the last two years as the assistant men's soccer coach at Washington College, but has also served the athletic department in a variety of other capacities. The 2008-2009 campaign was the 13th for Stephen Kish as head coach of the Bucknell women's rowing team. A 1992 Bucknell graduate and native of Miami, Fla. (Palmetto High School), Kish served as president of Bucknell rowing his senior year and received the Most Valuable Rower award, as well. Read more about Steve here.

Presenter: Katie Leekley

kmalKatie has been working with people who have brain injuries for the past 6 years as both a cognitive therapist and a case manager. She holds a bachelors degree from Washington College in Psychology and English, as well as a graduate certificate from The George Washington University in Brain Injury: Education and Transition Services.  She has been a rowing coach at the collegiate and high school levels, and is currently a volunteer assistant with the Washington College men’s team.

John Leekley was named the head men's rowing coach at Washington College in the summer of 2007. Under Leekley's guidance, the Shoremen's lightweight four advanced to the finals at the 2008 Dad Vail regatta. You can read more about John here.

Presenter: Bryan Matthews, Ed.D.

Bryan Matthews grew up north of Baltimore and attended Friends School north of the city. He graduated from Washington College in ‘75 with a BA in Political Science. In 1975, he married fellow alum Susan Dunning (‘75), and from 1979-82, he worked at WC as head men's lacrosse coach and assistant director of admissions.

Dr. Matthews has been teaching at USRowing Level 2 + 3 clinics for several years.

* Lies, Damn Lies and Rowing Biomechanics

S8001407Jim Mitchell has been involved with rowing for some thirty years, learning the sport from great coaches like Dee Campbell.  As the former head coach at McLean High School in McLean Virginia where his crews won two Stotesbury Championship; three SRAA titles and two Canadian Scholastic Championships and 27 regional championships.   While as the founder of the Washington Area Rowing Program, his rowers have earned multiple championships at the Canadian Henley, The Head of the Charles.  many of his rowers have gone on to represent the United States in Olympic competition, including current members Giuseppe Lanzone and Sam Stitt.  He is currently the Managing Director of Integrature LLC, a company involved the development of advanced rower development electronics.  In addition he is working with several high potential athletes as they prepare for the 2012 Olympic Games and many national universities as they adopt technology into their programs.

Presenter: Allen Rosenberg

Head coach of many United States National Rowing teams from 1961 to 1976, Alan Rosenberg’s 1964 U.S. Olympic Team won two gold medals—in Eights and Pairs with Coxswain—as well as a silver in Double Sculls, and a bronze in Four Without Cox. His 1974 World Championships Team won a gold medal in the Eights event.

Presenter: Nicole Stimpson

A 2000 graduate of Washington College. That same year Stimpson became the Women's Novice Coach at Wesleyan University. During her two years at Wesleyan, Stimpson coached and began work on her Master's Degree. In 2002 she went on to become the Asst. Coach of Women's Crew at the United States Naval Academy.

Stimpson has been coaching at the Naval Academy for the past seven years. During that time she has been selected as the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the year for the 2004, 05, and 08 seasons.

Stimpson began her career at Navy primarily coaching the novice squads but in recent years she has split her time with the Varsity Fours. Her fours won the Patriot League Title in 2005 and 2008. In 2009 Navy's Varsity Four earned a spot in the Grand Final at the the Eastern Sprints Championships.

Stimpson lives in Severna Park, MD with her husband and her two sons.

Presenter: Caren Saunders

Caren Saunders has been the novice women's rowing coach at Washington College since 2001.  Washington College made it's first appearance at the NCAA Rowing Championships in 2008,  and made a repeat appearance in 2009.

Coach Saunders also runs the Chesapeake Crew Camp for Girls, a summer camp for both novice and experienced rowers aged 13-18  (www.crew-camps.com).

Saunders graduated from the University of Virginia where she rowed for four years and served as team captain her fourth year.  While at Virginia,  she witnessed the transformation of the women's rowing team from club to varsity status, as well as the adoption of women's rowing as an NCAA sport.

Saunders has a graduate degree in teaching, and feels that coaching novices is in many ways like teaching students in a classroom.  She approaches sessions with her athletes the same way she approaches her students -- with a complete lesson plan.  Saunders has taught high school social studies for seven years.

She lives in Chestertown with her husband and four boys.
