What Is Lightning Talks 2010?
Lightning Talks 2010 is a symposium of short presentations designed to educate, entertain, and immerse you in an area of interest. In January 2010 the topic of interest will be Finding Success as a High School Rowing Coach
You will have the opportunity to learn from numerous experts on how you can find greater success as a high school rowing coach. Whether you are a brand new coach or a seasoned veteran, the special presentations, discussions, and experiences at this event can help you take your coaching to a new level.
How Much Does It Cost?
There is no cost to you, as long as you are a high school rowing coach or administrator. The talks are free to all who register. Currently registration is limited to the first 60 who sign up. Those on the waiting list will be contacted in the first week of January as to available space. Lunch will also be included (for free) for all high school coaches who are registered. What Are The Date And Time?
The tentative schedule for Lightning Talks 2010 as follows:
- Date: Saturday, January 30th, 2010
- Registration: 8:30 to 8:50 am
- Talks: 9 am to 4 pm

Following is a tentative list of topics. As the date approaches the topic list will be updated.
- How high school student's think
- Race day preparation
- Nutrition for high school rowers
- How to plan out your week of training
- Goal setting (coach vs team)
- Are you covered (insurance wise) as a high school coach?
- Can your high school rower row in college?

- The technique of rowing
- Safety for the high school rowing coach
- Teaching novices
- What about having fun?
- Professional development for the coach
- Creative land training
- CORE strength and and your team
- Steering your coxswain in the right direction

What Else Will Be Going On?
Networking and exchanging of ideas are two of the best way for coaches to learn, and there will be plenty of opportunities to do just that. There will also be an optional tour of the rowing facilities.
Where Will The Talks Be Held?

Who Can Attend?
High school rowing coaches, or those involved in high school rowing programs can attend free of charge. Since space will be limited, no guests please (although they are certainly welcome to spend the day visiting the great town of Chestertown.)
